Get to know Derek

I’m a former Special Education teacher and an Autism Fitness Certified Pro specializing in strength training and intentional movement coaching — a structured approach that helps individuals develop the ability to plan, organize, and execute movement with greater independence and confidence.

My work goes beyond traditional fitness. Many of the athletes I support experience challenges with motor planning, coordination, sequencing, and body awareness — skills that are essential for both daily life and meaningful participation in social and community settings.

​

I design coaching sessions that directly support:

​

  • Motor Planning (Praxis) — helping athletes think through and carry out movements intentionally

  • Sequencing & Multi-Step Actions — breaking down complex movements into achievable steps and building them back into fluid motion

  • Body Awareness & Spatial Control — improving understanding of where the body is in space

  • Timing, Rhythm & Coordination — developing smoother, more connected movement patterns

  • Movement Initiation & Follow-Through — supporting athletes who may feel “stuck” getting started or completing actions

  • Regulation Through Movement — using physical activity to support focus, emotional balance, and engagement

  • ​Primitive Reflex Integration — incorporating targeted exercises to support neurological development, improve coordination, and build a stronger foundation for intentional movement

  • Creative Play-Based Activities in an era when screen time is a challenge

My coaching is rooted in the belief that we must presume competence. I am trained in text-based multimodal communication, and I prioritize clear, respectful communication that matches each athlete’s learning style. No two of my athletes are alike.

​

I work closely with athletes and their families to create sessions that are not only purposeful, but engaging and enjoyable, so that progress is sustainable and meaningful over time.

At All Kinds Move, our team provides highly personalized coaching for athletes with unique needs, ranging from strength-based intentional movement coaching to developing social sport skills. We offer both tradition gym-based training, and community-based sessions, which occur at a location of the parents’ choice, providing athletes with a familiar and convenient environment. Each session is 40-60 minutes of focused, customized coaching, and we provide all necessary equipment, so athletes can fully engage without any extra setup. Every session is designed to ensure athletes receive expert guidance, consistent attention, and a program tailored to their goals.

All Kinds Move qualifies under Self Determination Program - Social Integration Service - Code 331.

We are already established with many FMS agencies including Ace, Accura, CIS, RITZ, ARCH and others.

Let's Begin with a Conversation

Complete the form below to begin, and once submitted, we’ll send you a brief questionnaire to gather more details about your loved one’s needs and goals. From there, we’ll schedule a time to meet in person to better understand how we can provide the right training to meet those goals. After that, we’ll agree on a session rate based on factors like level of support, your budget, and travel distance. From there we can begin this journey together.

Live Virtual Coaching

If you don’t have access to a local coach, we bring the session to you—live.

​

Our virtual training is not pre-recorded or self-guided. It’s a scheduled, one-on-one session over Zoom or Google Meet where your coach is fully present, leading the workout in real time just like we would in person. We demonstrate movements, give immediate feedback, adjust on the fly, and keep your athlete engaged every step of the way.

​

Each session is personalized to your athlete’s needs, goals, and environment, using whatever space and equipment you have available. You’ll get the same structure, encouragement, and attention to detail you’d expect from an in-person session—just delivered through the screen.

​

This is a great fit for athletes who:

​

  • Don’t have access to local adaptive fitness services

  • Want consistent, guided support at their home

  • Prefer a familiar environment​

​

All you need is a device, an internet connection, and a small space to move. We also provide an equipment list if you wish to use the same equipment we use in our in-person sessions.

Need Support but Prefer a Flexible Option?

Custom DIY Program

This option gives you a personalized plan designed specifically for your athlete—without the need for ongoing scheduled sessions.

​

We start with an initial assessment (in person, over Zoom, or via video submission) to understand your athlete’s needs, goals, and environment. From there, we build a custom 6-week program tailored to their abilities, your space, and any equipment you have available.

​

You’ll receive a structured plan with video demonstrations, clear coaching cues, and progressions, so you can confidently guide each session on your own time. You’ll also have email access for ongoing support throughout the program.

​

This is a great fit if you:

​

  • Want a flexible, self-paced option

  • Feel comfortable leading sessions at home

  • Are looking for a lower-commitment way to get started

​

You also have the option to add live check-ins (virtual or in-person) for real-time coaching, feedback, and adjustments along the way.
